The Criminal Law (Offenses) Act No. 16 of 2005 in Guyana amended the Penal Code to raise the minimum age of sexual consent. It increased the age from 12 to 15 years for consensual sexual relations, and from 13 to 16 years for certain related offenses. It also adjusted provisions on the detention of minors for sexual offenses, strengthening legal protections for children and adolescents.
