Human Resources Training

Under the “Inter-American Cooperation Program for the Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Exploitation, Smuggling of and Trafficking in Children”, a work stream was launched in 2009 with the purpose of providing training for human resources in the region, trough the developed of a semi-face course on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children…

It consists in a two-stage course: a first phase online, implemented by the IIN simultaneously to all participants of the region, and a second phase face-to-face provided by each State to its participants.

The course takes place once a year and is carried out with the joint responsibility of the participating States.

During online training, bibliographic material is provided, as well as discussion and consultation spaces and exercises aimed at ensuring that the participants know the phenomenon in their country, under the guidance of the IIN.

Contents include an introduction to the human rights approach in public policies for the protection of children and adolescents, to deepen on the sexual exploitation phenomenon: concepts, actors, causes and consequences, legal framework, public policies, new scenarios.

The characteristics of the face-to-face phase (mode, duration, content, teachers, etc.) are defined by each Member State, according to local needs and possibilities. Thus, each State can emphasize on some aspect of the phenomenon or adapt local training to their student’s profile.

Hundreds of governmental and non-governmental operators, involved in the protection of children and adolescents against CSE, have participated in training courses during these 9 years. Participants from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay have successfully completed it.

This course is taught only in Spanish.
